More than than a Beach…
New Buffalo's Beach and Lakefront Park (Lions Pavilion Park) are located on the North end of Whittaker Street, just beyond the Galien River Bridge.

Beach & Park amenities include:

• 800′ embankment frontage on Lake Michigan with Lifeguards
• 18-acre recreation area
• Boardwalk nature trail along dune line
• Restrooms and foot showers
• Full service snack bar

Beach Restrictions

• Swimming is only permitted in designated, signed areas.
• No pets, fires or glass containers.
• No alcoholic beverages
• Park closes at 10pm
• No overnight parking

Best time to get: Mondays through Wednesdays are quietest. Well-nigh people come at 11 am. At that place's a lull around dinner time (five – 7 pm) and and then the beach gets decorated again around seven:30 pm.

Lifeguards are on duty Memorial Day through Labor Day. Duty hours: 10 am – 6 pm Mondays through Thursdays and from x am – 7 pm Fridays through Sundays. Additionally, there are 'Alarm' flags to indicate lake conditions.

Beach Parking

Embankment visitors seeking one of the 207 (200 standard and 7 handicapped) parking spaces can freely enter the parking lot, find a spot and so pay @ 1 of the kiosks or via the mobile app – Passport. Parking fees for 2021: $15 per 24-hour interval and $7.50 per one-half day (with the full-day rate rising to $20 from July 1 through August 16). Violators will fined $50 (if ticket is paid within 24 hours). Later on 24 hours an additional $25 is added to the toll. The requirement to pay for parking this twelvemonth begins on April 1.

Visitors can leave the parking lot and re-enter without being assessed a fee again – subject area to availability of a parking space. Since admission to the lot is no longer restricted by a gate, drivers may (based on congestion) be able driblet off embankment goers.

• There is no attendant at the parking lot and the kiosk only accepts credit/debit cards.
• The parking fees are in effect 7 days/week Memorial Day through Labor Twenty-four hours and then weekends only through the end of September.
• Collection hours are between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. Visitors using the parking lot after these drove hours exercise not have to pay. Those parking before 8 am are free to stay until the collection flow begins. There is not charge after viii pm, so sunsets are free.
• Police patrols will verify machine license plates with vehicles registered in the parking payment system and violators will be ticketed.

Beach Snack Bar
New Buffalo Embankment Lodge provides a wide selection of snacks, drinks and meal-time favorites. One of their featured items – Chips served in Frisbies with toppings similar shrimp, crab, steak, chicken, a variety of sauces. Bill of fare also includes veggie wraps, waffle sandwiches, more 30 not-alcoholic frozen drinks, and a unique line of milkshakes (topped with whole pieces of block, whole donuts, candy bars and a special type of whipped cream that can withstand the heat of summer).

Embankment Weddings

In addition to pond, there are dunes, wooden walkways and kayak/paddleboard rentals/pedagogy. The Lakefront circuitous is often used as a scenic backdrop for professional photographers and a location for weddings and reunions.

Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals (lessons bachelor)

Paddle the river and the BIG Lake (on at-home days) for an unguided tour the Nature Preserve that is the Galien River bowl. 3rd Coast Surf Shop operates the Beach Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals as a City-approved concession.

• Beach Kayak & Paddleboard Rentals are available from xi:00 – five:00 (Eastern Time,) 7-days a week, from Memorial Mean solar day weekend through Labor Day weekend, all summer long! All equipment is available on site and reservations are non necessary or accepted – testify upwards whatever fourth dimension they are open.
• Wearing apparel for the weather; come up prepared to get a footling wet from the drip of your paddle and be out in the sunday. Lightweight, synthetic wearable is best. Sunglasses, sunblock and a hat. You can bring camera'south, simply they do have the possibility of getting moisture, and so bring a h2o proof pocketbook. No alcohol allowed!
• Pricing: (i) $20 per hour for a single kayak or paddleboard with paddle and life vest or $25 per hour for a double (tandem) kayak with paddles and life vests.
• Starting time timer? No problem, Third Coast has people on site to teach you how to safely kayak or paddleboard.

Lions Pavilion Park

This pavilion is the home of the New Buffalo Lions Club. It is located just across the street from the Beach and is considered role of the Beach Park complex. There is a pavilion, several picnic tables, grills, playground and benches. The pavilion is often used as an entertainment venue (see our events agenda).

How to become at that place…

If traveling on I-94 employ exit #one or Exit # iv. Traffic flows into New Buffalo from US-12 or Thou-239. From the boondocks's centre – the intersection of US-12 and Whittaker St. – go westward, down Whittaker St, across the bridge (the Public Marina will be on the left, the Stray Dog Restaurant on the correct)– proceed to where Whittaker St. ends. Plow left for the Beach Park. Plough correct if you are towing a boat (public boat launch).
